  2. John Schiller says:

Hello i have 2 Weller Pyropens’s and I cannot get them to light . I live in Venezuela but I purchased these in Australia. They invaluable tools so I wanted to know what cost is involved in getting them repaired . I also have 2 weller controlled output soldering irons
the power units are fine I just need the iron with cable on one as it was stolen and the other I have no tip left and cannot get the old tip out because of corrosion.

  3. Jason Flores says:

Hello, I purchased a Weller soldering iron 3 weeks ago from Fry’s electronics. It no longer heat but the lights come on. I threw away the receipt because I figured I would not have a problem with the product. Will Weller still cover repair or replacement? Thank you.

    • Greg says:

      Jason,
      Work with Fry’s to resolve.
IF you paid with Credit or Debit Card … those records are good for Fry’s resolution.

Weller Repair in Apex, NC would require receipt for Warranty Service, otherwise you pay $ for repairs.

  4. Courtney Vaughan says:

I purchased a Weller WE1010NA and it stopped heating in the middle of using it. I have replaced the tip, swapped out the power cord, left it unplugged overnight, tried holding down buttons to reset it, and checked the connector to the iron. Nothing has worked and it won’t heat past about 90-110F. I have adjusted every setting possible. I have my receipt and it was purchased in Feb 2019. Please can someone contact me about getting this warranty item resolved? I registered it with Weller when I purchased it using the instructions on the warranty card that came in the box, but the Weller website is absolutely useless. Every time I try to send a message, it just gives an error. It says “register your product and get access to support, warranty….” but nowhere on the website will it let you submit any warranty information. I’m frustrated and needed to use this ASAP and have always trusted Weller and bragged about how much better they are. Please help?

Hi, I have a Weller WES51 soldering station that has quit working (the magnet pencil has no effect), do you still repair them? If so how much?
    Thanks Ernie

  6. Magarity Kerns says:

The power switch in my W-TCP-L has broken. Flipping it on was like sticking a finger in a socket. Opening up the base shows the switch is soldered to the wires, which begs the question, how does one solder on a new switch without a soldering iron?

  8. Todd Bailey says:

I have a Weller EC2001 ESD. When switched on, the light comes on and you can hear a slight hum to it but no heat is transmitted through to the soldering tip. Any ideas or does this unit need to be sent in?

    • Greg says:

      Todd –
FIRST, check your Soldering Iron (EC-1201, hand piece) is Functional.
The plug-in heater (EC-234) could have failed. That part readily available with new BA-60 barrel nut.

  9. Bill M says:

I have a WESD51 unit with about 75 hours use on it. I take care of my tools, so it wasn’t dropped or thrown into tool bag, etc. I was using it at 700 deg F (typical) when after about 20 minutes the LED’s went dark and the unit wouldn’t heat. I checked all the troubleshooting tips from owners’ manual: AC power, switch continuity, good fuse on pcb, 21.8 Ohm across power blades on power cord with switch ‘on’, 11.8 ohm across pins 2+6 on tool, 3 Ohm on pins 3+4 of tool, >1MegOhm from pins 3+2, and 3+6 (all tests performed with Fluke 87 meter). Can’t figure it out….thanks for any help….

    • Greg says:

The Weller WESD51 is a current production station by Weller.
It sounds like you have performed resistance checks on the BASE Unit.

In my experience (46 years with Weller),
the Handpiece Heater is the Most Common component that fails.
Since RoHS (2003), competition from Asia (Hakko, Metcal/OKI), and
cheap Asian “clones/knock-offs”, Weller integrated hand pieces (irons).
The Weller PES51 soldering iron is the handpiece for the WESD51 station.
Weller sells these replacement irons for ~$40 each either directly OR via distributors.
      ==
You CAN Contact Weller USA in Apex, NC …
to have their repair/service department examine (troubleshoot) the station.
Their “repair charge” for the PES51 (2016) was $25 (likely higher today).

Hello I have a Weller 8200 N Soldering Gun, I need to replace the 2 Hex nuts, are these available ? how can I order them ?

    • Greg says:

Replacement Soldering Tips for the Weller 8200N Universal Soldering Gun, INCLUDE the Hex Nuts!!
You can get Used Nuts by removing from Old Worn Solder Tips used on Gun.
Older Gun models used Hex screws and bare tips, the 8200N series updated that attachment process.

      Weller Part Number: 8125N
Weller® Replacement Tip with Hex Nuts for 8200N Soldering Gun

Available from many sources, Weller distributors, Internet (Amazon), and Retail Stores that sell Weller Soldering Guns (Good hardware stores, ACE hardware stores, some Home Depot/Lowe Big Box stores).

SHOP for Best price (Use Google Search, Amazon).
      For example,
Toolbox Supply in Troy, NY sells that Weller part for $6.69 !!

  12. Marty Grubner says:

    Hi Craig,
I have Mc5000 base with ec1302 20 watt iron. I just replaced the heater and the sensor in the iron and followed calibration procedures in the MC5001 manual for the base unit and the iron. I have the EPH106 tip installed on the iron. My problem is that I have a delta of 50 degrees F between the base unit set temp and sensor temp readings and the tip. When I place a thermocouple on the tip a measure temperature the base unit sensor temp is 455F and the tip is 406F. I used the resistor calibration values as stated in the manual. Have those changed as I am seeing this 50F offset? Also what offset values if any do I need to set for the EPH106 tip? Any help very much appreciated.

    • Greg says:

      Marty –
I have never worked with the Weller MC5000 base unit,
so I am unaware of that controller design for handpieces (if internal calibration possible)
I don’t have a schematic or TechSheet for the MC5000.

The last of the “old school” 20th century Weller managers & repair techs retired in 2020, just as COVID-19 was hitting.
Larry Maiden was the Repair Center Manager, who retired. He will be missed.
Weller Germany is handling the designs and management today,
with production in Mexico and China.

  13. RUSSELL Edward PUTNAM says:

Purchased a Solder Gun Kit 260/200W on 02/21/2019. Does not heat well and internals appear loose in gun case. Is it under warranty?

  14. Joe Minor says:

I have a WE 1010NA which works great but the last few times ive used it, is putting a really bad, chemical smell out of the base of it (not from the iron). Its to the point that if I want to use it now, I have to take it out to the garage and use it because if I use it in the house, it gives me a bad headache. I dont use it that often and I never put the temp above 625F and the standby mode is set for 2 minutes. I tried sending a email through the Weller page twice but it kept say theres an “Apex Error” and it doesnt go through. I also called the phone numbers above and I get a recording saying that Apex is having a system problem. I doubt its still under warranty and I dont know when or where it was purchased because it was a gift. I’d be willing to pay to have it fixed as long as it doesnt cost as much or more than a new one

    Thanks
    Joe

we have a Weller solder station WXR3 the solder extractor WXDV 120 24V / 120W needs rebuild. Do you rebuild these? Do you have replacement parts to sell?
    Thanks

    • Greg says:

      Dave,
The Weller WXR3 soldering/rework station was designed in Europe (WX-series) with parts manufacturing in Germany, China, or Mexico.
I have NO access to repair parts for this WX series design (Policy change with Apex Tool ownership, and EU designs).
All the long-time Weller employees (30-40 years experience), that I have known, retired from Weller in 2019/2020

  16. Nick Berick says:

    Hello
I have a WE1010 I purchased from an individual. It was “new in the box”.
It had popped the fuse at the transformer. I temporarily
replaced it and it popped again.
Would someone be willing to troubleshoot the board?
I’m not sure if the board is the problem or the iron itself.
    Thanks
    Nick

    • Greg says:

      Nick,
I would suggest contacting Weller America HQ in Apex, NC (phone numbers below).
The WE1010NA solder station was designed in Germany (Weller Europe) and manufactured at Weller’s Mexico facilities (built in 2002).
      ==
“Blowing a fuse” indicates excessive current draw (Amperes),
caused by a SHORT or Failed Component.

USA Consumers adopted a “Throw Away” (Do Not Repair) mentality,
starting in 1980s/1990s with Asian imports (no repair parts or schematics).
Weller does not sell repair components for their newest models.

SO, you have to Contact Apex, NC for Service/Repair.

Thank you Greg! Believe it or not I got it going!
I again temporarily wired a fuse to the transformer.
I left the soldering iron unplugged and turned on the unit which remained on.
Then, I plugged in the iron and low and behold it is working fine! I have done multiple tests with this unit and now it seems to be functioning properly.
I certainly will keep your information.
Thank you for the quick response
    Nick

  18. Nelson Landry says:

We have purchased 20 or so Weller WR3M soldering station over the last 12+ years. However, I am having trouble getting in contact with someone at Weller. I have tried several numbers for the service center, and I received a message stating “no one is available to take your call”. I have sent several emails to Weller too and no one has responded either.

If I can’t get in contact with Weller Service Department to get our “out of warranty” equipment services. Then we may look somewhere else to get our soldering needs handled.

    Nelson
